Walter Branson

Interim Vice President for Finance and Administration

Walter “Walt” Branson joined the University of Redlands in June 2023 as the Interim Vice President for Finance and Administration.  Branson has over 30 years of experience as a chief financial officer at higher education institutions.

In this role, he oversees many University departments, including Finance, Budget, Human Resources, Facilities Management, Public Safety, Administrative Services, Event Services, and the University Bookstore. 

Walt previously served as the interim Senior Associate Vice Chancellor for Administration at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and interim Vice President for Administration and Finance at Arkansas Tech University.  Prior to that, he served as Vice President for Finance and Operations/Chief Business Officer at Wright State University, where he was responsible for the University’s financial and physical resources and managed a campus-wide budget of over $363M. 

Walt has also served in similar roles at Missouri University of Science and Technology and Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne. 

Office of the Vice President for Finance and Administration

The Vice President for Finance and Administration reports to the President and serves on the President’s Cabinet. The vice president provides vision, leadership, strategic direction, management, and support for University operations. This includes advising the President on a wide variety of organizational and administrative issues, including the development and execution of policies and the effective utilization of human, financial, and physical plant resources.
