Modified temporary summer schedule begins May 26

Dear Faculty and Staff,

On the heels of three marvelous commencement ceremonies on our Redlands campus, I want to thank you for everything you do for our students.  Witnessing the pride on our students’ faces as they cross the commencement stage is one of our greatest joys, and it brings everything we do for our students into sharp focus.  I am looking forward to joining our graduating students for commencement on our Marin campus on Saturday, May 20.

I am pleased to announce that, once again, University employees will be offered a modified summer schedule beginning Friday, May 26, 2023, through Friday, July 28, 2023.

Similar to previous years, most offices will close on Fridays at noon while employees will continue to be paid for the entire day.  Employees who need an alternate arrangement can work with their supervisors to take these four paid hours another time throughout the week instead of on Friday as long as such an arrangement doesn’t disrupt office operations or negatively impact our students.

Please see the Temporary Summer Schedule FAQ page for details on how to code your timecard and other questions you may have about this benefit.  If you need further assistance, please contact Human Resources at ext. 8040.

Additionally, at our most recent town hall in April, we mentioned that we planned to host another open session to provide updated information to you.  We have scheduled that faculty and staff town hall on Wednesday, May 24, 10 – 11:30 a.m. in Orton, just after the 9 a.m. URSA business meeting.  This town hall will be an opportunity to continue our discussion about the future of the University and the steps we are taking to address our budget concerns.  More information will be sent prior to the town hall.

Please join me in thanking URSA President Iyan Barrera-Sandri and Incoming President Elaine Talamaivao-Lafaele for working with us on both initiatives.

Thank you for everything you do, and I look forward to seeing you on May 24.

Sincerely,
