Woodbury Integration Update

Dear Faculty, Students, and Staff,

As University operations wind down in preparation for the holiday break, I wanted to provide a brief update on the exciting and potentially historic merger we are exploring with Woodbury University.

During the break, work will continue evaluating the potential integration of Woodbury University into the University of Redlands. Over the past few weeks, we’ve made great progress, but there is still much to do. This work is even more meaningful given the great feedback we’ve received about this exciting and important opportunity to combine two historic southern California universities into a strong, forward-looking organization with a broad range of programs that are sought after by students seeking a unique educational experience.

As you know, an integration like this is a highly complex endeavor, particularly given the many different elements that need to be considered. And while the timing isn’t ideal, we remain committed to transparency and collaboration from the onset and as we continue to move forward. It is key not only to our near-term success, but also for our long-term success together.

I also want to assure you that we will only proceed if it makes sense for both institutions over the long run. If during this discovery process, we find that integration hurts the combined entity, we will not move forward.

If you have any questions or comments in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Your voice is important and essential to our long-term success.

Thank you for your relentless dedication to the University of Redlands and our students. I wish you all the best for the holidays and look forward to an exciting 2024!

Sincerely,

Krista L. Newkirk
