Holiday break extended this year

Dear faculty and staff,

In accordance with the holiday policy for this fiscal year, the University is scheduled to close at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021. I am pleased to announce that I am expanding this year’s winter break by adding four additional days! The University will now close on Sunday, Dec. 19 at 5 p.m. and will re-open and resume normal operating hours on Monday, Jan. 3.

During this holiday season, my Cabinet members and I would like to thank you for your continued hard work and dedication to the University of Redlands. I also wish to express my deepest appreciation to each of you for the warm welcome you have given to my family and me.

To meet our service responsibilities in the most efficient manner, some offices and functions will remain minimally operational during all or part of the break. If you have duties that require you to work during the shutdown, please speak with your supervisors to make arrangements for alternate days off to be used prior to Dec. 20 but no later than Jan. 21, 2022, as indicated in the attached FAQ document.

On Campus Housing (CAS)

Residence halls will be closed during the break. Students who have applied to stay on campus during the break will mostly be housed in their own rooms, with a roster provided to Student Affairs, Facilities Management, and Public Safety. Those staying will check out a special winter key from Public Safety to gain entrance to their building for the days they are permitted to be on campus. Please adjust your voice mail messages and out-of-office email messages to reflect the holiday closure.
