Remembrance of 9/11 at Saturday’s games

Dear faculty, staff, and students,

This Saturday, September 11, the University of Redlands will host several athletic events on the main Redlands campus.

I invite everyone attending a game to join me in wearing red, white, and blue as a symbol of unity as we commemorate the 20th anniversary of 9/11, a pivotal event in this nation’s history.

Saturday’s home events include:

  • A men’s water polo tournament in Thompson Aquatic Center, when the Bulldogs will play the Air Force at 9 a.m., Fresno Pacific at 1:20 p.m., and UC Santa Barbara at 5:20 p.m. Admission is free.
  • A women’s volleyball series in Currier Gym, with matches against Providence Christian at 10 a.m. and the University of Antelope Valley at 4 p.m. Admission is free.
  • A football game against Puget Sound at 7 p.m. in Ted Runner Stadium (see ticket information; first responders, active-duty military, and veterans will receive free admission).

We will observe a moment of silence before the National Anthem to start each event. In remembrance of this 20th anniversary of a day that changed our world forever, let us come together in unity and in support of each other.

See you on Saturday—Go Dawgs!

Och Tamale,

President Krista Newkirk
