Getting to know you

August 10, 2021

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

I begin my fourth week as your President more energized, inspired, and committed than ever.

As I have said in my messages to you over the past weeks, and as I mention to everyone I meet, the reason I chose the University of Redlands is you. The passion, dedication, and expertise of our faculty and staff are well-known, and the talent, diversity, and engagement of our wonderful students are, of course, the reasons we are all here.

I have been busy on campus as I get to know the University and meet with people.

I hope that you will come out and spend some time with me. You may select from one of the many events we have scheduled through the Meet the President website.

Although I have been on our Redlands campus my first few weeks, I am prioritizing visits to all of our campuses. This week, I will be on our Rancho Cucamonga campus and will soon be visiting the Riverside and Marin campuses to meet with our faculty, staff, and students there.

There are three upcoming events I want to specifically highlight and encourage you to attend.

  • The hybrid Faculty-Staff Town Hall is this Friday, August 13 at 1 p.m. in Orton Center, and I look forward to introducing myself to you and taking your questions. I have also invited several members of my Cabinet to provide brief updates. You can attend either in person or virtually. We ask that you register, and please remember to wear a mask if you are there in person.
  • Our All-Campus Lunch hosted by the President’s Cabinet, URSAA, and me will be held on Tuesday, August 24 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on the Orton Lawn. All faculty, staff, and students are invited to enjoy wonderful food, lively music, fun games, and an exciting raffle hosted by URSAA. (A special thanks to URSAA Leadership Kay Thomas, Cheyne Murray, and Iyan Sandri for their help!). Again, you can sign up to attend on the Meet the President website, and please remember to dress in your U of R Maroon and Grey on the 24th!
  • The first student Town Hall will be held on Friday, September 17 at 2 p.m. in Orton Center, and I hope all of our students will register to attend on the Meet the President website.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I am excited to be here and filled with so much Bulldog pride already. I look forward to having the opportunity to meet all of you soon.

Sincerely,

Krista Newkirk
