Commencement Checklists 

Hey, Bulldogs! Below are important checklists pertaining to your academic level. All checklist items must be completed by the dates listed. Please be in contact with your advisor throughout the year to prevent any issues you may encounter. 

Sophomores becoming Juniors

Double-check that major has been declared. Continue to work with Advisor to ensure completion of degree requirements. 

Seniors

Please ensure the following items are completed during the 2023-2024 Academic year. All items must be completed before Commencement. The Application for Graduation will be opening soon.

  • Johnston Student - more information coming soon.
  • School of Business & Society student - more information coming soon.
  • School of Education student - more information coming soon.
  • All requirements (everything!) should show as met, in progress or registered for Spring/May Term 2024, totaling no less than 128 credits.
  • All candidates who are short the required 128 for degree completion and program requirements must submit the Petition to Participate in Commencement by December 15th, 2023.
  • Graduation Application, in Self Service, must be completed by December 1st, 2023. (Helpful Instructions)
  • Review your declared major(s), minor(s), and anticipated graduation date for accuracy. For commencement, you will be walking with your first listed major.
  • Deadline for departmental honors for Spring 2024 graduates is March 1st, 2024.
  • All Seniors graduating this academic school year 2023-2024 are asked to complete the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE).  We have not surveyed seniors since before COVID, and would very much like your feedback so that we can continue to improve the educational and co-curricular experiences at Redlands!  It will be live from March 8th through May, and there are incentive drawings for those who complete on or before March 31st.  The link will be on emails you receive beginning March 8th, and also on your Canvas dashboard.
  • Information about the 2024 Commencement ceremonies will be coming soon.
  • All graduating seniors should complete the First Destination Survey approximately one month prior to Commencement. If you cannot access the survey, please contact the Office of Career and Professional Development.

For degree sign off (to receive a diploma), a minimum of 128 credits are required in addition to the completion of all majors, minors, Liberal Arts Foundation, Writing Across the Curriculum and Community Service Learning requirements. Remember, only 4 PE activity credits will apply towards the 128 requirement. Diplomas will be mailed to the preferred address on file.   • Johnston Center Commencement – Wednesday, April 24, 2024, 4:30 p.m. – Bekins Hall Lawn
  • School of Education Commencement – Thursday, April 25, 2024, 5:00 p.m. – Ted Runner Stadium
  • College of Arts & Sciences Commencement – Friday, April 26, 2024, 9:00 a.m. – Ted Runner Stadium
  • School of Business & Society Commencement – Friday, April 26, 2024, 5:00 p.m. – Ted Runner Stadium

Cap & Gown and Other Memorabilia


Cap & Gown:

  • Caps, gowns, hoods, tams, and tassels are available for purchase at the University Bookstore on the Redlands campus beginning March 4th through the day before Commencement.
  • To prevent sizes from becoming unavailable, please purchase your regalia as soon as possible.


Discount Voucher:

*Good for one school spirit item for the whole month of April 2024. Discount does not apply to commencement regalia, adopted textbooks, special orders, sale books, class and alumni rings, computer software, headphones, periodicals, discounted merchandise, computer hardware, health and beauty aids, or food snacks and beverages.


Bookstore Hours:

  • Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, Closed

Announcements and Class Rings:

Announcements and class rings can be ordered online at Herff Jones.


Commencement Flowers:

  • Parents and guests are encouraged to pre-order and pick up prior to the ceremony to ensure that students can wear their leis across the stage for their photos.
  • Pre-ordering flowers, orchids, and kukui nut lei’s are available via the Commencement Group website.


Professional photographer: Grad Images:

  • A professional photographer from Grad Images will be at the Commencement ceremony.
  • Each student will receive proofs and order forms by email directly from Grad Images within 72 hours after the ceremony.
  • Students can preregister via the Grad Images website. Register now or before the ceremony and receive a 20% off coupon.
