Subject: Update on Student Health Resources

The University is committed to ensuring students have the healthcare resources they need at an affordable price and in an accessible and convenient manner.  Because of the relatively low utilization of the Student Health Center and the sharp increase in healthcare costs, the University will transition to an alternative healthcare model in Fall 2023.  This change will not impact the University’s Counseling Center or the Counseling Center’s staffing or operating hours.

The University has seen robust utilization by undergraduate and graduate students who have sought support through TimelyCare’s virtual counseling services available to students through an easily accessible, private, and convenient online platform.  Student feedback about TimelyCare services has been consistently positive since our relationship began two years ago, and its 24/7 availability has proven to fill gaps in service, for example, when the Counseling Center is closed or during holiday breaks.  Because of this positive feedback, the University is expanding its partnership by making the TimelyCare virtual medical services platform available 24/7 to all CAS undergraduate students as well.

Of course, not all healthcare services can be provided online.  Fortunately, beginning July 15, the Redlands Urgent Care Center will begin providing a low-cost healthcare option, with co-pay fees not to exceed $10, to those who show a valid student ID.  They have also promised not to bill students for costs not covered by insurance.  Redlands Urgent Care Center also has affiliated locations in Yucaipa, Moreno Beach, Norco, Colton, and Riverside.

The University’s expanded partnership with TimelyCare, as well as the opportunity for low-cost, expanded medical services through Redlands Urgent Care, strengthens wellness resources and limits out-of-pocket expenses for our students.
