We encourage you to learn more about the School of Music programs by visiting our campus and meeting with faculty members and students prior to applying for admission.
To be admitted to the School of Music undergraduate programs, you must also be admitted to the University of Redlands.
In addition to filing The Common Application and the Music Application, an audition is also required. The School of Music can only inform you of your audition results or scholarship recommendation after you have been officially admitted to the University of Redlands.
The University of Redlands offers Early Decision (Nov. 15), Early Action (Nov. 15), and Regular Decision (Jan. 15). The Transfer deadline for fall priority decision is March 1. Applications submitted beyond these deadlines will be considered on a space available basis. The application deadline for spring admission is November 1.
There is no official deadline for the music application or music deadline. However, we recommend applicants submit the music application at the same time as the Common Application, but preferably no later than February 1st, to ensure music talent scholarship eligibility.
Spring applicants should submit a video audition no later than December 1st or contact the Director of Music Admissions to schedule a live audition.
In person music entrance and scholarship audition dates for fall 2020 applicants are February 1 and February 15, with regional auditions taking place in Portland, OR on February 8 and in San Francisco on February 23. The audition day will consist of:
Several of our students will also be present to show you around and answer any questions you might have.
Auditions are required of all students who are planning to major or minor in music.
Anyone wishing to participate in an ensemble while pursuing a major other than music is invited to apply and audition for a talent scholarship. Applicants interested in this opportunity should choose the Ensemble Only option on the music application.
You can schedule an audition by submitting the music application or by contacting the Director of Music Admissions at email@example.com or 909.748.8014. If you cannot attend one of these days and/or you live more than 200 miles away, we will accept a recorded video audition.
Applicants who choose to submit an uploaded audition video should refer to the audition requirements for their primary instrument.
We strongly encourage anyone submitting a video audition to do so by February 1st.
Uploaded videos should include an introduction, a brief discussion of your performing experience, and answer the question, "Why do you want to attend the University of Redlands?"
Before beginning your performance, please speak the title of your piece and the name of the composer.
