February 16, 2015

The University of Redlands, in partnership with the American Freedom Alliance, will present Melanie Phillips speaking on "The Paris Massacres and Freedom of Speech" at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 16, 2015 in the Orton Center on the University of Redlands campus. This event is free and open to the public.

Melanie Phillips is a British journalist, broadcaster and author. Her weekly column, which is currently appearing in The Times (U.K.), has appeared over the years in the Guardian, Observer, Sunday Times and Daily Mail. She has a weekly radio show on Voice of Israel, is a regular panelist on BBC Radio's The Moral Maze and appears frequently on BBC TV's signature political shows Question Time and The Daily Politics. She also writes regularly for the Jewish Chronicle and Jerusalem Post, and has spoken to great acclaim on public platforms throughout the English-speaking world.

The thesis of her book, Londonistan, is that Britain has become an epicenter of militant Islam. She followed this in 2010 with The World Turned Upside Down: the Global Battle over God, Truth and Power, with a foreword by Broadway and Hollywood screenwriter David Mamet. Guardian Angel, the memoir of her personal and political journey from being the darling of the left to the iconic defender of Israel and the west, was published in 2013.
