Program Learning Outcomes: Business Administration and Management

Bachelor of Arts in Management

Bachelor of Arts in Management graduates will:

1. Critically analyze current and past business practices in written assignments and classroom exercises based on an understanding of the foundations of capitalism and market economies, both domestic and international.

2. Utilize verbal communication skills to engage an audience with a coherent, well orchestrated research presentation.

3. Accurately apply written communication skills to produce in-depth written analyses of course readings and/or cases.

4. Assess and practice interpersonal communication skills to effectively collaborate with clients, community volunteers and university members in a team setting to solve organizational problems.

5. Apply critical and strategic thinking to produce sound managerial decisions while taking into account relevant perspectives, research and the impact on the communities served.

6. Behave in an ethical and responsible manner in individual and group based program related work and activity.

7. Integrate insights from a second disciplinary area to creatively examine the sustainability of organizational practices.

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration graduates will:

1. Critically analyze current business practices in written assignments and classroom exercises based on an understanding of the foundations of capitalism and market economies.

2. Create effective business communication in both written and oral forms.

3. Assess and practice interpersonal communication skills to effectively collaborate with clients, community volunteers and university members in managerial settings.

4. Develop a capacity to meaningfully evaluate a company (or non-profit) performance with the application of appropriate financial and statistical techniques as well as accounting methods.

5. Evaluate classic and contemporary situations using discipline-specific tools - e.g. accounting, finance, law, and management - and the latest research findings to generate effective solutions, taking into account competing perspectives and the expected impact on stakeholders.

6. Identify and understand the challenges and opportunities of operating a business or non-governmental organization in domestic and international settings.

7. Conduct themselves in academic and group settings in ways that reflect sound ethics and responsible behavior.
