What is a Kinesiology degree?

The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology immerses you in the science of human movement and performance. You’ll gain a solid foundation in biology, anatomy, exercise physiology, and biomechanics, while selecting electives that let you tailor the degree to your goals. Whether you’re aiming for graduate programs—such as physical therapy, sports medicine, or athletic training—or pursuing a career in coaching, physical education, or strength and conditioning, this program provides the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience to thrive in a rapidly growing field.

Why should you major in Kinesiology at Redlands?

At University of Redlands, faculty invest in you as both a student and a future professional. Through individualized mentorship, they challenge you to think critically, ask meaningful questions, and grow with confidence as you develop your identity in kinesiology. Your coursework connects foundational theory to hands-on application, giving you opportunities to actively engage with the science of human movement and build the analytical skills and practical experience essential to the field.

You deepen your understanding through community-based movement experiences, where concepts such as biomechanics, exercise physiology, and motor behavior come to life in real-world settings. Anatomical learning moves beyond the textbook with cadaver dissection—an uncommon undergraduate opportunity made possible through partnership with Loma Linda University–and faculty-mentored research allows you to work with innovative technologies currently shaping professional practice.

Together, these experiences equip you with the knowledge, confidence, and applied skills to pursue careers in health, fitness, rehabilitation, and performance, or to continue your education in advanced degree programs.
