Lost Summer

These photographs were made at the start of the lockdown and throughout the summer. Living near Dodger Stadium and close to downtown Los Angeles, I experienced the eerily quiet streets and shuttered businesses while listening to helicopters and sirens echo during the nightly protests. Witnessing the spectacle of masks become disturbingly politized, I lost an aunt to Covid-19 as well as an uncle who passed from other complications. Personal medical issues forced me to undergo multiple tests, exams and various pokings, prodings and extractions. Outings consisted of quiet walks through cemeteries, watching plants grow and die and the relevance of these cycles which many of us have been forced to contemplate during this uncomfortably unstable summer.
