Message from the Dean
On Friday, May 14, 2021 in an email sent to all of you, I shared the University of Redlands will require students who come to campus be vaccinated for the SARS CoV-2 (COVID-19) virus. Proof of vaccination must be received, or an exemption request approved by August 10, 2021 or ten days prior to your planned arrival on campus, whichever is sooner. Failure to comply will result in both a registration and housing hold which will delay moving onto campus and attending class, respectively. Please disregard this memo if you have already submitted your vaccination records or requested an exemption according to the instructions below.
In order to maximize the health and safety of the University of Redlands community, the CAS Undergraduate Student COVID-19 Vaccination Policy is in effect July 1, 2021. The policy is in response to guidance from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention outlines the proof of vaccination requirement for the SARS-CoV-2 virus (COVID-19) and includes information about seeking exemptions. It is important to note this policy applies to all CAS undergraduate students, whether residing on or off campus, whether attending full or part-time, whether a new or returning student, etc.
The expectations outlined in the policy mean:
1. If you are a new student, in addition to submitting, as noted on the New Student Checklist, proof of immunization for MMR, Chicken Pox, Tdap, Hepatitis and Meningitis, through the Student Health Portal you must also submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination or request (and be granted) an exemption.
2. If you are a returning student you will need to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination through the Student Health Portal or request (and be granted) an exemption. This process is the same as when you uploaded your immunization records when you first enrolled at the University of Redlands.
3. Those who have already submitted proof of COVID-19 vaccination via health_center@ redlands.edu, with apologies for the inconvenience, you will need to upload the same document using the Student Health Portal. By submitting through the Student Health Portal, your proof of vaccination becomes part of your medical record.
4. You need to be cognizant of the timeline to submit proof of vaccination, keeping in mind vaccines that involve two doses will require no less than thirty days lead time from the August 10, 2021 deadline, or ten days prior to your planned arrival on campus, whichever is sooner.
After reviewing the policy document, if you have questions, please direct them to email@example.com. If you need assistance accessing the Student Health Portal, please reach out to Health_Center@redlands.edu
Compliance with this policy is required. Failure to complete needed tasks on time will prevent you from being able to move into your residential community and attend classes, so please don’t delay.
I look forward to welcoming you back to campus in late August.

University Dean of Student Affairs
