Diversity in Action...

A weeklong residency at the

University of Redlands

Diversity in Action, a weeklong residency at the University of Redlands, is intended to introduce and engage various voices and perspectives across the University community, and beyond. It serves as a tangible example of our commitment to providing a well-rounded, personalized, and hands-on education that focuses in scholarship through engagement.

Diversity in Action is lived and experienced by, and through those who are committed to social change, reform in response to inequity or conflict, and the strengthening of local communities, like our own. Whether and artist, educator, historian, community advocate, we all have a role to play, to include hearing, considering and respectfully challenging diverse perspectives.

The weeklong residency allows for the introduction of ideas, perspectives and experiences that will challenge some, and inspire others, and is the result of extending an invitation to a nominated, and selected representative of diversity in action.

Please read the guidelines below and consider someone (self-nominations are welcomed) to engage in our community on topics and in ways that meet the goals of this initiative:

  • strengthen and expand our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, on our campus and in our daily lives
  • introduce active and engaging role models to inspire us to overcome barriers, and value difference;
  • help develop leadership skills and abilities that enable others to act;
  • foster meaningful dialogue among the U of R community to influence the development of guidelines, policies, procedures, and organizational practice.
