Bachelor of Arts

German graduates will be able to:

1. Language

a. Communicate written and oral information accurately and clearly enough to be understood by sympathetic native speakers of German without misrepresentation or confusion;

b. Compose written documents with logic and clarity, following applicable conventions. 

2. Written German

a. Identify and interpret key texts in German literary and cultural traditions, such as major movements, writers, and works;

b. Apply cultural and interpretive analysis to evaluate literary and non-literary written German.

3. Cultural Competence

a. Differentiate American and German cultural norms;

b. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of German cultural behavior in order to function effectively within German culture.
