It is a great feeling to be back showing my work with my colleagues, it has been a very trying time for everyone.

This selection of work is mainly in clay which is my favorite material. The clay heads, which I call “Almitas” (little souls in Spanish), continue a series that reflects my interest in ancient art and the figurative art of African and indigenous Mexican and Latin American people.

The sculptures find new relevance in today’s world as well, reflecting their maker and his roots.

The vessels are wheel-thrown and altered while still damp and later painted with layers of ceramic pigments and then sanded down in various places to reveal the layers of color, they are fired numerous times, they reminded me of the nighttime sky and so I call them the Celestial series.
