Joann Ly, M.A., M.A., is an intern therapist in her third year in a Psy.D Clinical Psychology program enrolled at Azusa Pacific University. Joann is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and The Gottman Method (Level 1 & 2). Additionally, she has training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing for Substance Abuse, Play Therapy, Child Abuse Assessment and Reporting, Seeking Safety, and Traumatic Bereavement in children. 

Joann's approach to therapy is through a trauma informed - psychodynamic lens but is adept at implementing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approaches as needed. Joann believes that a safe and compassionate space is vital to all sessions and is committed to understanding her client's history and the issues they bring into therapy through a systems approach. She has experience in treating issues relating to trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD, adjustment, self-esteem, intellectual disabilities, and gender identity. In addition, Joann specializes in working with eSports player and reviews articles for eSports Health and Performance Institute (EHPI).
