Work Study Opportunities in CSL

Community Service Learning creates service related job opportunities for students in several ways.

Student Directors Positions:

Students are hired as Student Directors for our own programs such as Jasper's Corner, Roots and Shoots, CHAMPS, Big Buddies, and UHOP. These student leaders are responsible for overseeing their programs - this includes training staff and volunteers, organizing events, creating schedules.

In addition to student director positions, we also hire Student Ambassadors, to serve as liaisons to local agencies that we partner with, such as Inland Harvest, Redlands Family Service, Redlands Conservancy, and Totally Kids Outreach. In these positions, students work to maintain connections between the university and the agency they are affiliated with, recruit and train volunteers, and coordinate transportation for various events.

Gardener In Residence Positions:

Student gardeners are able to perform general gardening tasks such as weeding, planting, pruning, irrigation, water pond maintenance, and basic garden upkeep. Gardeners are also able to assist in planning and creating new garden areas as needed throughout contracted sites in the city of Redlands. Student can work on the S.U.R.F Garden or The LaFourcade Community Garden.

America Reads Positions:

With the help of a federal grant, we are able to hire America Reads tutors to work in our tutoring centers as well as in local agencies across the Inland Empire. With partners like the Micah House, Redlands Unified Unified School District,  and Boys and Girls Club, tutors are able to make sustainable impacts on the lives of children, while also enhancing their own development.
