2024 SBS Student Commencement Speaker Contest

 

The 2024 School of Business & Society Commencement Ceremony is scheduled for Friday, April 26. All students approved to participate in the 2024 School of Business & Society Commencement are invited to enter the Student Commencement Speaker Contest.

Do you have an interesting story of inspiration or transformation related to your learning experience? Is your story relevant to a demographically diverse audience of graduates as well as their family and friends?

If so, share your story by participating in the Student Commencement Speaker Contest!

 

2023 School of Business & Society Commencement Speaker Cynjun Salinas '17, '22, '23

Step 1

Submit your proposed speech for review and consideration. Your speech proposal must include four (4) parts:

  1. Your name, student ID, program, and current contact information
  2. One paragraph explaining why you entered the contest
  3. Your written 5-minute speech
  4. One 5-minute video of you sharing your speech in MP4 or MOV format

Step 2

Email your complete speech proposal to sbs_studentengagement@redlands.edu by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2024.

1.  Your written speech proposal (including all 3 parts above) as an attached MS Word or PDF file

and

2.  A sharable link to your video speech proposal in a downloadable format (i.e., stored on DropBox, YouTube, Vimeo, OneDrive, etc.). Your proposed speech must not exceed five (5) minutes in length

Contest Rules

  • Participants must be eligible to participate in the 2024 Commencement.
  • Any submitted work must be original and may not violate any laws such as copyright, trademark, intellectual property, or any other ownership rights.
  • By participating in this contest, you agree that U of R may use your photo and post content for marketing and advertising purposes.

Contest Submission, Voting, and Selection Timelines

Each story of inspiration and transformation is unique and distinctive, yet there can only be one Student Commencement Speaker.

  • Submit your speech by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2024.
  • A School of Business & Society panel of faculty and administrators will review all submissions and select the Student Commencement Speaker by late March 2024.
