We believe that the integration of ethics and purposeful leadership into the life of the University is the surest way to help you become a successful leader whose actions benefit your organization and society.

The Banta Center for Ethical and Purposeful Leadership is the University of Redlands’ forum for conversation, inquiry, and debate on ethical and purposeful leadership.

Resources
Textbooks, casebooks, and resources related to business ethics, law, leadership, and corporate social responsibility are located in the Banta Center’s private library in Hornby Hall, Room 215. These resources are available to faculty, students, and guests.

Expertise
The Center is associated with the Purposeful Leadership Initiative, which brings prominent scholars and professionals to campus to talk about issues related to ethics and leadership in the workplace.

Thought Leadership
The Banta Center team includes thought leaders whose research sits at the intersection of business and ethics.

Grants
The Center sponsors grant programs to support research and teaching efforts of faculty, administration, and academic support staff.

Awards
Students are eligible to be nominated for or to apply for student awards and fellowships recognizing research, study, and service in ethics and leadership.

The Redlands Master of Science in Organizational Leadership program develops purposeful, ethical, and innovative leaders who are ready to succeed in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors.

Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Management

Learn about the role of individuals in managing performance, building and leading teams, and working effectively within organizations. The Graduate Leadership and Management Certificate is a three-course, 12-credit program that can be applied towards an MBA degree. 

Our Beginnings

The Banta Center was endowed in 2006 by David Banta ’63, founder of Banta Asset Management, LP, and his wife, Stephanie Beale Banta ’63. The Center is a testament to their compassionate and sensitive understanding of the role of ethics in contemporary business, as well as their commitment to fostering continued personal and professional growth at Redlands.
