Spring Return to Campuses

December 28, 2021

Subject: Spring Return to Campuses

As announced on December 18, 2021, the Cabinet met Monday to evaluate the current state of the pandemic and make a determination for the January return. We will be moving forward with a full reopening of our campuses this January for the start of the spring semester as planned, but with temporary enhanced safety protocols in place. A University-wide memo will be sent on Sunday, January 2.

For reference and guidance on post-holiday testing protocols, please see these earlier announcements:

The forthcoming memo will include information on how to report post-holiday COVID-19 test results.

As a reminder, the University will be requiring eligible faculty, staff, and students returning to in-person teaching, working, or learning to receive a COVID-19 booster shot when medically eligible, unless they previously received an accommodation or exemption. Given the transmissibility of the Omicron variant, you are strongly encouraged to get your booster as soon as you are eligible. To make an appointment, go to San Bernardino CountyCalifornia, or national sites.

And lastly, with increased flu activity across the U.S. and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it is more important than ever for individuals to get a flu vaccine this year to stay healthy and avoid COVID-like symptoms that may cause you to quarantine. Getting your flu shot is still the best way to prevent the flu.

Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you in 2022. Happy New Year!
