The Department of Accounting is situated within the College of Arts & Sciences, which distinguishes it from most accounting programs nationwide. At University of Redlands, we act on our conviction that a liberal arts education is the best training for future business leaders.
You need to learn the language of business, but you also need to learn the facts and methods of historical inquiry, the mathematics that helps us test whether we really know what we think we know, the science that shapes our understanding of the physical world around us and drives ongoing discoveries, and arts of all forms that allow us to connect with each other.
Within the Accounting department, you will learn how enterprises evaluate themselves in order to improve. You will learn how external providers of capital (lenders and shareholders) decide where to invest, and you will learn about the important political negotiations that determine what information is available to decision makers in complex economies.

Students have secured competitive internships in national and international large accounting firms like PwC, Deloitte, Crowe, CBIZ (forensic accounting), Moss Adams, HCVT, and Tilden Coil (Riverside construction company).
Over 90% of Accounting seniors have signed a contract for professional employment before they graduate. Students are placed directly into careers with a Bachelors degree starting salary of $88k. Most students sign a contract with a firm a year earlier than graduation.
We are very involved with getting current accounting students connected into the network of loyal Redlands alumni who are instrumental in opening doors to professional employment. Alumni regularly visit campus and spend time with current accounting students. They offer advice, feedback on resumes and interview skills, and referrals to the recruiters at their respective firms.
Faculty in the Accounting Department establish a solid relationship and care about your overall well-being.
Study business and finance-related topics, including financial reporting, analysis for decision-making, auditing, tax, and effective communication to prepare you for a career in finance, investments, management, or law enforcement.
“This internship was rewarding not just because of the technical skills I developed, but because of the people I met along the way. I’ve often heard that accounting can be a difficult profession, but what makes it worthwhile is the people you work with. I can now see that this is absolutely true. Every team I worked with was tight-knit and genuinely cared about one another.”
