What is the traditional undergraduate daytime program?

Transfer to University of Redlands and complete your degree through the College of Arts and Sciences, where you can choose from more than 40 majors and minors, experience a traditional semester at full-time pace, take in-person classes during the day, gain personalized learning on-campus and real-world application through field research, case studies, and hands-on internships. With a foundation in liberal arts education, you'll build the skills to think critically, communicate effectively, and prepare for a meaningful career while developing deep knowledge in your chosen field. What credits transfer?

Students may transfer up to 66 semester credits from a regionally accredited two-year institution and up to 96 semester credits from a regionally accredited four-year institution. Admissions information

For students who have completed 24 or more transferable semester units or 36 or more quarter units: 

  1. Graduated from high school or equivalent
  2. Have taken a majority of transferable units completed in academic courses
  3. Completed two semesters of full time coursework with no less than a 2.0 (C) in any course
  4. Completed and passed the following core courses with a C (2.0) or above: 
    • English composition
    • Mathematics (at or above Intermediate Algebra)
    • Foreign Language (One semester/quarter, or two years in high school)
  5. A recommended minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8

Students who have completed less than 24 transferable semester units or 36 quarter units:

  1. Graduated from high school or equivalent
  2. Applicants will be reviewed based on their performance in high school and college
  3. Test optional for fall 2021, SAT or ACT test scores.
  1. Complete and submit the University of Redlands Application (free) or Common Application
  2. Request official transcripts from all institutions attended and have them issued and sent directly to University of Redlands
  3. Request official high school transcript including proof of graduation or the equivalent to be issued and sent to University of Redlands 
    (Transcripts must be issued to University of Redlands and mailed directly from the institution in order to be considered official. Transcripts hand-delivered or mailed by the applicant are not considered official.)
  4. One letter of recommendation from a professor who can speak to your academic abilities within college-level coursework. If you are unable to request a recommendation from an individual during your time as a student, please contact Undergraduate Transfer Team, for further instruction.

Note: Materials required outside of the application, may be received after your application is submitted.

Articulation agreements are available for many two-year institutions. Find them via the Registrar's office and learn more about our general education requirements, "Liberal Arts Inquiries", Associate Degree to Transfer options, or transfer credit policies.

In addition to filing the academic application (University of Redlands Transfer Application or Common Application), a supplemental application and audition are required for those who want to major or minor in Music and/or Theatre. The School of Performing Arts (SOPA) application includes options for music and theatre.

You can submit the SOPA application via your application status portal after you have applied to University of Redlands.

Spring 2026 deadlines:

  • November 1 - application deadline
  • December 1 - audition deadline

Fall 2026 application and audition dates and deadlines:

  • February 7 - Music auditions at University of Redlands
  • February 14 - Music and theatre auditions at University of Redlands
  • February 15 - Video audition submission deadline
  • February 21 - Virtual Interviews

Anyone wishing to participate in a music ensemble while pursuing a major other than music is invited to apply and audition for a talent scholarship. Applicants interested in this opportunity should choose the Ensemble Only option on the music application.

Video auditions can be one or multiple video files and should include:

  • Please include the title of your piece/character and the name of the composer/play. These can be announced verbally or displayed as a title in the video.
  • Video auditions can be uploaded on your application status page after you submit the SOPA application.

Music Transfer Students:

  • The audition will be a major factor in determining what academic year (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior) transfer students are placed in.
  • All Bachelor of Music students are required to take the Upper Divisional Qualifying (UDQ) exam at the end of their Sophomore year. If you are auditioning to enter as a junior, the audition will also be considered as your UDQ exam.

Students interested in the Johnston Center must submit applications to the University of Redlands and the Johnston Center for Integrative Studies. Students may indicate their interest in the Academics section of the University of Redlands Common Application. Applications can be submitted concurrently, however a student will not be reviewed for the Johnston Center until admitted to the University of Redlands. You may access the Johnston application here.

Please contact the Office of Admissions at admissions@redlands.edu for more information on the Johnston application. Students will be notified of this decision via their application status portal.

The Johnston Center strongly encourages visiting campus to experience the program’s strong living-learning community. The combination of direct and indirect costs creates your cost of attendance which is used to determine your financial need and set the maximum amount of financial aid you can receive for a period of enrollment.

Talent Awards


Students in art, creative writing, and theatre can apply by submitting a separate portfolio for consideration.

Music students can apply by submitting a separate application and completing an audition.
