Shariq Ahmed, Director -  Academic Computing

My Work

After working for the CSU System for over 11 years, at Cal State Fullerton and at Cal Poly Pomona in various capacities, in 2013, I joined University of Redlands as the Director of Academic Computing and Instructional Technology Services. I head up a great team of IT Managers, Instructional Designers, Technology Specialists, Audio/Video technicians, and System Administrators. My team is responsible for making sure that all computer labs and technology enabled classrooms at the main campus as well as the 6 regional campuses are up and running in perfect shape, and to provide training and support to the university faculty and staff on anything related to classroom technology, instructional design, and online teaching and learning.

Teaching

I have been teaching for CSU Fullerton since 2005 for the College of Education in departments of Secondary Teachers Education and Instructional Design and Technology. I also teach part-time at the Coastline Community College where I developed and currently teach the Mobile Apps Development courses. I have also taught two years for the CIS department at Riverside Community College.

Education

I received my Doctorate in Education (Ed. D.) with a concentration in Higher Education Administration, from Cal State Fullerton, in 2011. The title of my research was: "Faculty and Graduate Students’ Perceptions of the Use of Technology in Online Education." My graduate degree is in Management Information Systems from CSU Fullerton. I also have an MBA in Finance and a Law degree from overseas.

 

 

Cheyne Murray, Associate Director -  Instructional Technology & Academic Computing

My Work

I taught for nearly a decade at the secondary level. Subjects included: AP History, AP Psychology, Associated Student Body & Leadership, AVID, English and Health. I've been an Athletics and Activities Director, Department Chair and Head Coach for multiple sports.  I'm certified to teach in California, Florida and Texas. 

Instructional Design and Instructional Technology Experience 

In K -12, I have experience as an Instructional Technology Coordinator at the district level in both California and Texas. At Riverside Unified School District I was also in the District Office as a Staff Developer of Instructional Technology as well as Digital Content. There I designed and developed multiple digital textbooks for High School Courses. 

In Higher Education, I have had experiences as both Instructional Designer and Senior Instructional Design at the University of Miami. There I assisted in the roll out of their Online Programs that included School of Business and School of Education.  I also developed online courses for the School of Architecture remotely when I moved out to California. In 2016, I joined the University of Redlands as the Manager of Instructional Technology and Academic Computing.  I report to Shariq Ahmed who I collaborated with in the development of building the certificate program. My team is essentially responsible for providing training and support to faculty and staff regarding instructional design, classroom technology, and online teaching and learning. 

Teaching

I've been an adjunct faculty member at multiple institutions. Prior to the University of Redlands, I taught at the University of Miami. 

Education

I hold a Master's Degree from Notre Dame de Namur Univeristy in Education focused on Curriculum and Instruction emphasis in Instructional Technology. My undergraduate degree is from University of California at Santa Barbara.
