What does your prison ID number mean to you?

“Nothing, at this point. It's just prison numbers. They don't have any impact anymore now.

“When I first came home, for a while I used to remember, ‘Damn, I've been home for a year.’ ‘I've been home two years.’ I haven't thought about it in years now. I don't know. It's pretty much, it's faded away. I let it go.

“But I made a decision to let it go. I decided I didn't need it anymore, and taking that kind of initiative for me has been crucial — beginning to make decisions about myself and how I was going to respect and train who I am and not be shackled forever to who I used to be.”
