Enroll or Waive/Opt-out of the Student Health Insurance Plan – Available on 6/15/2026

Each academic year, CAS undergraduate students enrolled in nine or more are required to have health insurance that meets your school’s coverage requirements. The University of Redlands partners with Gallagher to offer a Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) designed to support your well‑being throughout the academic year.

Important: Waiver/Enrollment Deadline: September 15, 2026
If you already have comparable health insurance or if you wish to enroll, you must take action by the deadline above.

What You Need to Do:

  1. Go to www.gallagherstudent.com/Redlands
  2. Under “Profile,” click "Log In" and use your school login credentials (same as your school email or portal login).

How to Waive or Enroll in SHIP

Submit your waiver or enrollment by September 15, 2026:

  1. Log in using the steps above.
  2. Click either the “Enroll” or "Waive" button under "Plan Summary."
  3. Follow the instructions to complete the form.
  4. Once you’re done, you’ll get an email confirmation with next steps.
Waiver Denied? Don’t stress, follow the instructions in the email to fix the issue (uploading supporting documents).

Waiver Requirements

The following insurance requirements must be met in order to waive enrollment in the University’s health insurance plan:

  • The plan must be active for the entire policy year.
  • The plan must meet the criteria of Minimum Essential Coverage
    • Medi-Cal – Some students may qualify for health insurance coverage through Medi-Cal which meets the waiver requirements.  Medi-Cal information can be found here.  If you have questions about Medi-Cal, please contact the San Bernardino County Office of Health and Human Services: https://www.dhcs.ca.gov/services/medi-cal/Pages/CountyOffices.aspx

Approved waivers are valid throughout the 2026-2027 school year. If approved, students won’t need to reapply again until the 2027–2028 academic year (beginning in June of 2027).

Students who do not successfully waive coverage in the fall, and wish to do so, will have the opportunity submit a waiver for the spring/summer period between November 11 - January 26, 2027. For example, if they now have qualifying coverage, if they were studying abroad in the fall semester, or are coming in as a transfer student in the spring.
