March Updates from Residence Life and Housing

Hello Bulldogs!

The Residence Life and Housing staff is excited to welcome you back to campus and hope you had the opportunity to recharge over Spring Break! Please review the important reminders regarding upcoming deadlines, preparing for Room Draw, May Term and Summer Housing.

Are you graduating this year or studying abroad in the fall semester? Don't worry! No housing selection action is needed on your part. We merely send this message to all current students to make sure to not miss anyone returning for another year who needs housing.

Due Today, March 8th, 2024

Housing Accommodations 

  • Students interested in requesting a housing accommodation for the coming year must complete the Accommodations Process with Academic Success and Accessibility (ASA).

Off Campus Petition 

  • Students who meet one of the four published exemption criteria and are interested in receiving off campus approval. Learn more about the Off Campus Petition Process on our website and complete the petition on your MyRedlands Housing Portal under Applications and Forms

Quad Application

  • This application is for students who want to be considered for placement in a quad room, which are limited in number. Housing assignments are completed in collaboration with Student Financial Services (SFS). Each student who wants to be considered should complete the application on the MyRedlands Housing Portal under Applications and Forms.

Prepare for Room Draw 

Open Houses

Join us at our residence hall open houses to learn more about the communities you can choose from during Room Draw. RLH staff will be there to talk about the community and help with any questions you may have.

  • California Hall -March 15th at 4pm
  • Melrose Hall - March 18th at 7pm
  • Grossmont Hall - March 19th at 4pm
  • Cortner Hall - March 20th at 6pm
  • Anderson Hall - March 21st at 4pm
  • Founders Hall - March 21st at 6pm
  • Brockton Apartments - March 24th at 1pm

Singles Large Rooms

A limited number of singles will offered during Room Draw on a first come first serve basis in Anderson, California, Cortner, Founders, Grossmont and Melrose. These single rooms will be charged at a Single Large rate.

Return to Housing

Students currently on a Leave of Absence (LOA), who have indicated they will return in the fall with the Registrar's Office, or students who are currently studying abroad and will return to campus in the Fall will participate in Room Draw as a returning student and will be provided a selection date and time.

  • Room Draw selection times will display on housing portals based on the student's current time zone.
  • For students currently studying abroad no additional forms need to be completed.

Going Abroad or Taking a LOA in Fall 2024

No housing selection processes are needed at this time.

  • Students will be contacted in November via their Redlands email account with information about how to share room and roommate(s)/suitemate(s) preferences for your spring return. 
  • This will be completed on your MyRedlands Housing Portal using the Return to Housing Form.
  • Students planning to take a Leave of Absence for the Fall semester, must follow the information linked here to notify the University. 

May Term 2024

Students not enrolled in an on-campus May Term course must check-out of their current spring housing assignment by Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 2pm. 

  • The residential communities that will remain open are Anderson, Grossmont and Melrose Hall. Residents in our closing communities that are enrolled in May Term will be provided with new housing assignments to move to on May 1st. Students with vacancies in the May Term halls will be assigned new roommates.
  • Students who will take the travel course that have an on campus component, are permitted to remain in University housing until their departure date that has been approved by Study Away and Residence Life & Housing. All other students taking a travel course will need to complete their check out by April 27th at 2pm
  • Student athletes who continue to compete are permitted to remain in University housing and will receive a separate communication on their housing assignment if they are living in a community that will close for May Term. Student athletes are expected to check-out of their May Term assignment within 24 hours of their last competition or return to campus after travel. 
  • Organizational houses must have at least two residents enrolled in a May Term to remain residential and only those enrolled in a May Term are eligible to live in the house. May Term rosters are due to rlh@redlands.edu by March 29th. 
  • Students enrolled in a residential May Term and do not have off campus approval will be charged for housing and meal plan during May Term.

Summer Housing

The application to apply for Summer Housing is available on the MyRedlands Housing Portal under Applications and Forms. Learn more about the process and Summer Housing in the application.
