Hello,
We hope the first week of classes has been enjoyable. We are reaching out to you because, according to our records, you currently have a vacancy in your room and/or apartment. We continue to place students throughout the semester for various reasons and wanted to provide you information to consider.
First, please be reminded an empty bed space and the associated furniture must remain unused as a roommate may be assigned to you at any time. We try our best to communicate with you regarding possible roommates and facilitate a meeting in advance, however, a roommate can be assigned to the room without notice depending on the context for the move. This is especially important to keep in mind over breaks, as there continue to be adjustments to housing assignments.
If you have an idea of who you would like to move into this space, please communicate that information with us as soon as possible by emailing RLH@redlands.edu. While we cannot guarantee requests will be met, we certainly will do our best. If we do not hear from you, we assume you do not have someone to fill the space and continue to consider it an option for those students with whom we work on alternative housing arrangements.
Please be reminded of the expectation to be welcoming and encouraging of any possible roommate who approaches you about moving into the vacancy. Students who discourage others from becoming a roommate will be required to participate in a Community Standards process.
Should you have any questions, please email Residence Life and Housing at RLH@redlands.edu.
Best wishes,
