About Outside the Lines
The University of Redlands Art Gallery is pleased to present Outside the Lines, an exhibition of work by Eastside Arthouse, a Riverside-based arts organization dedicated to community-centered creative practice. On view from January 20 through March 15, 2026, the exhibition highlights the voices, visions, and lived experiences of artists working beyond traditional institutional boundaries.
Outside the Lines brings together a dynamic selection of works that reflect Eastside Arthouse’s commitment to experimentation, collaboration, and social engagement. The artworks span a range of media and approaches, emphasizing process, personal narrative, and collective expression. Together, they challenge conventional definitions of authorship and artistic space while foregrounding creativity as a vital tool for connection and empowerment.
Founded in Riverside, Eastside Arthouse has built a strong reputation for fostering inclusive artistic environments rooted in mutual respect and community participation. Through exhibitions, workshops, and partnerships, the organization supports artists whose work is often underrepresented, creating platforms where creative practice and civic life intersect. Eastside Arthouse’s programming emphasizes accessibility and dialogue, positioning art as both a personal and communal act.
The opening reception on January 21 will feature a panel discussion facilitated by curators Juan Navarro and Jonathan Godinez. The conversation will explore the themes of the exhibition, the collaborative nature of Eastside Arthouse’s work, and the broader role of community-based art organizations in contemporary cultural landscapes.
