This 17th International Interdisciplinary Conference on Clinical Supervision
(IICCS) extends a conference series that began at the University at Buffalo in 2005 under the leadership of Larry Shulman and Andy Safyer, thenEditors of The Clinical Supervisor, supported with a small grant from the National Institute of Drug Abuse.
IICCS is unique in bringing together supervision scholars and practioners from across discplines and countries. Clinical supervision is the “signature pedagogy” of the mental health professions. But most of the conversations about it in the literature and in conferences has been siloed: They have occurred within disciplines, within
countries, and within groups who are primarily practitioners or primarily
scholars.
Over the past two decades, IICCS has been hosted by several universities:
2004 - 2009: University at Buffalo
2010 - 2019: Adelphi University
2020 - University of Redlands
2021-2022 - Catholic University of America
2024 - University of Redlands
The conference co-chairs are Heidi Hutman (Temple University), Karen Sewell (Carlton University) and Maria del Pilar Grazioso (Proyecto Aiglé Guatemala).
They chair a multi-disciplinary, multinational Executive Committee of supervision scholars and practitioners.
In keeping with our tradition, this year we have put together a new host of topics that will continue to explore the state-of-the-art of clinical supervision through preconference workshops, paper presentations, posters, plenary sessions, invitational presentations and roundtable hot-topic discussions. Our doctoral student initiative has continued to expand to include well-attended and innovative sessions for students and a mentoring session with leaders in the field.
The Preconference (June 12, 2024) will feature two 6-hour workshops. Registrants can choose which to attend.
The Conference (June 13-14, 2024) will feature (a) plenary sessions with invited speakers, (b) paper sessions, (c) poster sesions, and (d) roundtable discussions.
It is possible to register for both the pre-conference and the conference together; or to register for either independently.
CE credit will be available for some sessions for psychologists, counselors, and social workers. More information will follow later.
