About Andrea Prebys-Williams

Andrea Prebys‑Williams is an Adjunct Professor at the Presidio Center for Sustainable Solutions whose work bridges values‑based, embodied leadership with civic and organizational systems change. In her MBA/MPA courses, Leading Organizations and Change and Civic Leadership, Diversity & Systems Thinking, she cultures inner work in community through: guided journaling with accountability partners, somatic centering and mood check‑ins, values clarification, and reflective small‑group dialogue. A core philosophy shaping her systems-change approach is the belief that self-transformation is a prerequisite for societal change, drawing on Grace Lee Boggs’ charge to “transform yourself to transform the world.”

These practices are linked directly to structural analysis and action through power mapping, systems mapping, and design experiments such as co‑creating agreements and reimagining compensation and meeting structures from a blank slate, and supporting teams as founders in building organizations aligned with their stated values. Her pedagogy emphasizes anti‑oppressive leadership, psychological safety, transparency, and shared power, often inviting long‑horizon imagination (e.g., envisioning liberatory futures 500 years out) to connect personal purpose with systemic interventions.

In practice, as the founder of Fireweed Consulting, LLC, Andrea supports transformation across personal and organizational levels through executive coaching, peer and team facilitation, organizational development, professional development trainings, and organizational retreats. There is a direct connection between what she does in the classroom and the work she supports in the world.
