About Adrienne Ortega-Magallanes

Dr. Adrienne Ortega’s 28-year career in education has been shaped by a commitment to improving teaching, strengthening school communities, and expanding opportunities for students. She began her career as a classroom teacher in the San Bernardino City Unified School District, where the daily realities of teaching sparked her interests in literacy, instructional improvement, and educational research. She later served as an instructional reading coach, supporting teachers as they translated research into effective classroom practice.

Her career then expanded into school leadership through her service as a vice principal in the Rialto Unified School District and as a principal in San Bernardino City Unified. In these roles, she has led professional learning, school-improvement initiatives, and efforts to create inclusive and supportive learning environments.

Alongside her K–12 leadership, Dr. Ortega teaches in the Liberal Studies program at the University of Redlands. She values helping future educators connect research and theory to the complex and rewarding work of schools, bringing the perspective of a practitioner who has served students, educators, families, and communities at multiple levels.
