Trout & Tall Tales 2024

Redlands campus Aug 12, 2024 - Aug 16, 2024 12:00 AM Alumni

August 12-16, 2024!

WHERE: Hot Creek Ranch in the beautiful Eastern Sierras. The Ranch is about 35 miles north of the City of Bishop and 8 miles east of the City of Mammoth Lakes at an altitude of 7,050 feet.

COST: The price includes all meals, snacks, and accommodations in small cabins on the secluded ranch property just yards away from a private stretch of Hot Creek. California fishing license required and not included.
Alumni General Price: $1500 per person for double occupancy, $1100 per person for triple occupancy | Non-refundable deposit: $750 | Final Payment: Due by July 1

FISHING: A California State Fishing License is required. Hot Creek Ranch is a two-mile private stretch of stream that allows only barbless, dry flies. It is catch and release; no wading is allowed. The Brown and Rainbow Trout here are very savvy, so come prepared for a challenge! The constant abundance of Mayfly, Caddis fly, and Stonefly allow the Trout to be very selective. These fish will challenge your fly fishing skills. Only guests of Hot Creek Ranch are allowed on this portion of the stream.

Experienced anglers may certainly bring your gear. You can buy stream-specific flies and other consumables at the small fly shop on the property. Those new to fly fishing do not fret! We specialize in beginners and will provide everything you need (except the license) for the week. Tom and LeAnn offer hands-on guidance throughout the week and there are lots of other experienced hands to help you…our alumni love to convert people to fly fishing!

MEALS: Beginning with Monday’s dinner and ending with Friday’s lunch, all meals and beverages (except bottled water, however tap water is filtered and delicious) are included in the price of the trip and will be provided for you. All meals will be served family style.

CABINS: You will be staying in small, but comfortable, all electric cottages. Each has a porch with a spectacular view, and an enclosed carport. They are completely furnished with two double beds, two twin day beds, bedding, linens, dishes and utensils. Each has a private shower. Bring your own toiletries. The cabins are cleaned prior to your arrival. There is no housekeeping service during the week of your stay.

Double Occupancy: Due to the popularity of this trip, and the limited number of cabins that are available to us, roommates are mandatory. Due to extreme popularity of the trip, we also require one alumnus/a per cabin. Pricing is based on double occupancy. If you have any questions, please call Alumni Relations at 909-748-8011.
