Mortar Board began at the University of Redlands in 1943 as a women’s senior honorary group, known as WEBS, Wisdom, Excellence, Belief, and Service. Today, the group, which is open to both men and women, sponsors an annual Professor of the Year award to honor a distinguished faculty member who embodies the ideals of scholarship, leadership, and service.
