Kudos Corner

University of Redlands’ faculty, students, and staff recently received honors.

FACULTY

Both a book-length poem and a performance, A Short History of Anger, by Edith R. White Distinguished Professor in English & Creative Writing Joy Manesiotis, was selected as co-winner of the New Measure Poetry Prize from Free Verse Editions/Parlor Press. In conjunction with a series of upcoming performances, Parlor Press will publish the book in fall 2022. The development and performances of A Short History of Anger: A Hybrid Work of Theatre & Poetry—locally, nationally, and internationally—were created in collaboration with Professor of Theatre Arts and Director Chris Beach, supported by Theatre Arts Production Director Trevor Norton, and performed by Professor of Mathematics Steve Morics, Professor of English Heather King, and numerous U of R students and alumni.

Professor Emerita of Theatre Arts Victoria Lewis was awarded the 2022 Miami University Kate Welling Distinguished Scholar in Disability Studies endowed position, an annual award offered to a highly regarded specialist in one or more areas of disability studies. Lewis will teach classes, offer special seminars open to all, and work with Miami faculty members to develop and expand course content to include disability studies theories and perspectives.

School of Education Professor Wesley Henry was elected treasurer of the California Association of Professors of Educational Administration, an organization of professors from private and public colleges or universities dedicated to the education of school leaders.

STUDENTS

Jordan Weil ’21, also known as DJ Prime Trax, was named one of the top 32 College DJs who competed in the 2021 National Collegiate Performing Arts NPCP College DJ Championship. The competition is hosted by UpStaged Entertainment Group and the NCPA, which are both industry leaders in performing arts competitions.

U OF R AND DEPARTMENTS

Under Vice President for Finance Kevin Dyerly and Controller and Sr. Director of Financial Operations Pat Caudle, the U of R was given a 90+ cashvest Award, a prestigious designation signifying excellence in the implementation and management of all liquidity in the public marketplace. The award comes from three+one, a company that uses proprietary algorithms to produce data-driven analysis and time-horizon evaluations.

The Grounds Department recently won a Professional Grounds Management Society Honor award for grounds maintenance at the University of Redlands. The Professional Grounds Management Society is an individual membership society of grounds professionals, representing over 1,000 industry professionals in the United States, and is the oldest individual membership organization for grounds professionals and advances the grounds management professional through education and professional development.

University Communications received two 2021 MarCom Gold Awards that recognized the Bulldog Blog and Och Tamale magazine. An international competition for marketing and communications professionals, MarCom Awards honor excellence in marketing and communication while recognizing the creativity, hard work, and generosity of industry professionals.
