The University of Redlands celebrates recent honors and accolades bestowed on the University and its faculty and staff.

UNIVERSITY OF REDLANDS

For its contribution to the public good, the University of Redlands has placed in the top 4% (27 of 614) in the Washington Monthly 2020 Master’s University Rankings. The designation is based on three categories: social mobility, research, and promoting public service.

U.S. News & World Report ranked the University of Redlands No. 5 (top 4% of 125 schools) in 2021 Best College Rankings, in the Regional Universities—West category. The publication also ranked U of R No. 3 (top 9%) among best colleges for veterans in the West.

The Best Colleges for Veterans designation for the U of R was echoed by College Consensus, whose evaluations bring together published expertise and student reviews.

LendEDU's second annual report on student loan default rates recognizes the University of Redlands for having one of the lowest default rates (1.90%) among institutions of higher education in the nation. By this measure, the University ranks among the top 9% (403 of 4,398) in the county.

U of R’s School of Business is No. 1 in the Best Business Management Schools and Programs ranking issued by University Headquarters citing “business administration and management means more than mere textbook work for University of Redlands students.”

FACULTY

Ivonne Gordon Vailakis, professor of Spanish and Latin American literature, was awarded the international Poet in New York Prize from Valparaíso Editions for her new book of poetry, Casa de Agua.

STUDENTS

Three students received the U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, which supports students to study or intern abroad:

  • Carla Caro ’22 will study in Santiago, Chile, with International Education of Students Abroad, next fall.
  • Keylana Jenkins ’22 is currently planning her destination for the fall of 2021.
  • Montserrat Pineda ’22 will study at Queen Mary University in London in an upcoming semester.
