Street Photography and Portraiture
Italy and Slovenia Art 260 is faculty-led by Professor Tommi Cahill.
Course description
Using a smart phone or digital camera students will explore and become intrenched in their surroundings. Each city that we visit will become our classroom. Students will learn how to make photographs of new places that are thoughtful and meaningful. Using Venice/ Trieste, Italy, and Ljubljana, Slovenia as a backdrop to explore, students will photograph light, architecture, fashion, landscapes, street photography, and portrait projects. Students will create original photographs that we will critique every week. This course requires a high degree of autonomy as well as a genuine commitment to group work. Students will spend much of their daily activity in the field.

Included in the course fee:
- Lab fee (paper and ink to print your pictures), pre-departure support, international medical insurance, welcome dinner, daily breakfast, city tours, housing, transportation passes, excursions including glassblowing workshop, Luigi Bevilaqua velvet producer, Biennale opening day and guided tour, Skocjan Caves, Museum of Puppetry and House of Illusions, Lake Bled, and farewell dinner.
Not included in the course fee:
- Airfare, $1400
