Celebrating the Success of Our Shared Governance Work

Sep 5, 2025

Dear University Community,

We are pleased to share an essential milestone in the University’s ongoing commitment to strengthening our shared governance process. The “Statement of Shared Governance” and “Decision Matrix” have been endorsed by the Shared Governance Task Force and the University’s Board of Trustees. Together, these documents provide a clear framework for collaborative decision-making and reflect our dedication to fairness, transparency, and shared responsibility.

This achievement marks the culmination of a journey that began in September 2023, when the University launched a planning process to modernize our shared governance framework, ensuring alignment with our mission, vision, and new strategic plan. From the beginning, this has been a collaborative effort, bringing together faculty, staff, students, and Trustees to build a governance model that serves the entire campus community.

The Shared Governance Task Force played a critical role in creating an inclusive process, hosting town halls, conducting surveys, and incorporating community feedback. Their work, together with the insights and engagement of the broader University community, helped refine the documents and ensure they provide a practical, transparent, and sustainable framework for decision-making at Redlands.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this process, whether through providing feedback, serving on the committee, or engaging in thoughtful dialogue. Your engagement has been instrumental to this success, demonstrating the power of working together toward a shared goal.

For access to all documents related to our shared governance process, we invite you to visit the Shared Governance SharePoint site. We encourage you to explore these materials and continue to engage in the conversations that keep our community strong, inclusive, and innovative.

Sincerely,

Jamison J. Ashby
