Subject: Update on work expectations for U of R employees
Thank you for your continued contributions to the University of Redlands during this unprecedented time. We know that the COVID-19 pandemic has challenged us all in different ways.
In the face of the pandemic, the University guaranteed pay for all employees through the end of June and extended that guarantee for current employees until July 15. As of July 16, we will maintain the status quo with respect to compensation of all U of R employees as we await further guidance from state and county officials regarding our plans for return to campus this fall.
If you believe you cannot perform your regular duties given the nature of your job and/or your particular circumstances, we encourage you to discuss the situation with your supervisor. In several cases, we have been able to adjust the nature of individual duties so employees can continue to contribute to the University and be paid.
In light of yesterday’s guidance from California’s governor, supervisors should continue to use discretion, erring on the side of caution, in determining if an employee needs to report to work on-site to sustain essential University functions.
As a reminder, anyone on campus is required to contribute to the safety of the community as a whole.
