[1] Staff and full-time faculty, excluding adjuncts, at all campuses. New hires have 60 days to report vaccination status; those who have not yet provided documentation are included in the “Unknown” category, which is why this number fluctuates.
[2] Almost entirely in-person.
[3] Student numbers include only those who participate in on-campus classes; the vaccination status of online students is not tracked. The School of Continuing Studies is currently holding most classes online.
[4] Exempt numbers include students taking online-only courses.

Reminder of the week

San Bernardino County continues to schedule vaccination clinics on the main Redlands campus (Orton Center); the next are Tues., Nov. 23 and Tues., Dec. 14. In addition to initial COVID-19 vaccination, the clinic will offer COVID-19 boosters and flu shots. Those who live or work in San Bernardino County and are 12 years of age and older are eligible; no insurance is necessary. Appointments are encouraged; walk-ins are welcome. To make an appointment, go to MyTurn.ca.gov, or call 909-387-3911, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

News you can use

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced “FDA Authorizes Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine for Emergency Use in Children 5 through 11 Years of Age” on Oct. 29 after finding the vaccine safe and effective; the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention followed by recommending it for this age group. NPR reports that the specialized vaccine for children is expected to be available at many sites across the country the week of Nov. 8.
