Summer Song
Audition Workshop for Junior and High School Students
July 10-12, 2019

Summer Song sessions will include:

  • Solo Performances
  • College Audition Preparation
  • Musicianship/Coaching
  • Alexander Technique Sessions
  • Stage Movement
  • Concluding Recital and Reception

Solo Performances:
On the first day singers will perform their prepared selection: an art song, operatic aria, oratorio aria, music theatre or folk song. Please bring a legible and complete music score for the accompanists. Preparation for the final recital on Friday, July 12, begins immediately afterwards!

College Audition Preparation:
Information and discussion about college readiness, financial aid, music auditions, etc..

Musicianship / Coaching:
Individual work with vocal teachers Patty Gee, Marco Schindelmann, Cindy Snyder and Melissa Tosh and rehearsals with accompanists Malcolm Swan and Stephanie Lovell.

Alexander Technique:
Awareness of body alignment and methods to release tension that may be affecting your singing.

Stage movement:
Approaches to characterization and stage presentation.

Concluding Recital and Reception:
Parents and friends are invited!

Summer Song is a three-day program focused on providing junior and high school vocalists (beginner thru advanced) training, information, and guidance in preparation for college auditions and a future in singing.

Students meet on the University of Redlands campus in Watchorn Hall from 9 – 4 each day. Bring your lunch for the mid-day break.
