Opera Workshop prepares voice students for curricular and extra-curricular performance situations (juries, recitals, main stage productions, Opera Galas and competitions).
During the Fall semester, class time is spent exploring and presenting individual repertoire for performance as well preparing and rehearsing music for Fall Gala and Spring main stage productions. During the Spring semester, students devote their energies, by way of involvement either onstage or behind the scenes, solely to main stage production.

Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell
Based on Virgil’s epic poem The Aeneid, Henry Purcell's Dido and Aeneas tells the doomed love story of Dido, the widowed queen of Carthage, and the Trojan prince Aeneas. As a result of the machinations of an evil witch, Aeneas must abandon Dido, who chooses death over regret.
