Adjunct Faculty Profiles


Magdy Farag, Ph.D is presently an associate professor at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, where he teaches and conducts research in financial accounting, auditing, and ethics. Prior to joining Cal Poly Pomona, Dr. Farag taught at Kent State University in Ohio and the Arab Academy for Science and Technology in Alexandria, Egypt.

Dr. Farag holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Alexandria University, a master's of business administration (MBA) from the Arab Academy for Science and Technology, and a doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in Accounting from Kent State University. Dr. Farag is also a member of the American Accounting Association and an educational member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.


Laurie Ball, CPA is presently the Audit Director at PKC Kuebler, APC, a full-service public accounting firm with deep roots in the city of Temecula and the surrounding communities. Prior to joining PKC, Laurie was a senior audit manager at a "Big 4" CPA firm, a controller of a large, publically-traded company for a number of years, and then the owner of her own small consulting practice, before finding her way back to public accounting. Laurie is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Bachelor's of Science degree from the University of Southern California.


Andy Anderson's career spans from working with small startup companies to very large companies with multiple locations and branches. He began his career at Arthur Anderson and Co. and moved on to work at companies such as Foster Farms, Con-Way Express and A-Z Bus Sales. He now specializes in assisting businesses with reaching their operating goals and improving profits. Andy's expertise includes working with company leaders to identify key performance indicators (KPI) in order to increase success. Throughout the years, Andy has taken an active role in training managers and entrepreneurs to understand operating processes by focusing on monitoring operating metrics that support the financial numbers. Other areas of expertise include : GAAP, Strategy, Metrics, Budgeting, Cash Flow, ESOP, 401K, Forecasting, Captive Insurance, Operations, Cost Accounting, Insurance, Employee Benefits and Activity Based Costing.


John Mumm, M.S. Ph.D. is currently Controller for an addiction treatment facility in Newport Beach. Prior to that, he was Controller for a cell phone accessory distributor in Huntington Beach. He has 35 years of teaching experience at various levels, primarily at the University level, throughout North America; most recently at California State University Fullerton, where he received his M.S. degree in Accountancy.


Claude Ognibene's career spans over thirty-four years including 13 consistent promotions with 7 major companies and 8 divisions. These corporations operate in Public and Private "High Tech" Service and Manufacturing environments. His background encompasses management in the areas of finance, accounting, estimating, audit, treasury, contracts, program management, tax reporting/planning, real estate, loan processing, customer negotiations, customer service, human resources, information technology, domestic and international (Maquiladora/UK/China) manufacturing.


Barbara M. Feliciano, C.P.A., CITP, CGMA, RCFE, CASP is Chief Financial, Corporate Compliance and HIPAA Officer of Brethren Hillcrest Homes, a 52 acre senior living community in La Verne, California. Barbara has served in senior living communities for over 20 years and has 25 years of non-profit financial management experience. She also maintains a small book of tax business serving mostly non-profits and churches.

Barbara has served on the Finance Committee of LeadingAge California since 2005. She has also served as a director for the Los Angeles Chapter of CALCPA and joined the Inland Empire Chapter as a director in May 2010. Barbara currently serves as a Discussion Chair for the Inland Empire Chapter. Barbara I also a Rotarian and Treasurer of the Rotary Club of San Dimas.

Barbara received an accounting-focus business administration bachelor's degree from Cal Poly Pomona in 1988. She is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a CITP and CGMA designation. Barbara also holds a Residential Care Facility Administrator certificate and is certified as an Aging Services Professional by the University of North Texas.


Alex A. Lemos, M.B.A., C.P.A. is the controller for Hangar 24 Craft Brewery. Before joining Hangar 24 he had five years of experience in public accounting with Smith Marion and Co. as supervisor of the audit department. He has served as a board member and officer for the Inland Empire chapter of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, and on the board of directors for the YMCA of the East Valley. Currently he also teaches accounting at University of Redlands and Chaffey Community College.

Alex, a licensed Certified Public accountant in the state of California, holds a bachelor's degree in business administration with an accounting concentration from California State University, San Bernardino, and a master's degree in business administration with a finance concentration from the University of Redlands School of Business. When not working, Alex prefers to spend his time with his wife and daughter while enjoying one of Hangar 24s tasty brews.


Dennis Phillips, E.A. is President of Dennis G. Phillips and Associates, Inc. Mr. Phillips specializes in all areas of tax. He has experience with representing taxpayers before the IRS, the Franchise Tax Board (FTB), Employment Development Department (EDD) and the Board of Equalization (BOE).

Mr. Phillips retired from the IRS in January of 2003 after more than 35 years of service, including 25 years with the Appeals Office. As an Appeals Team Manager he was required to be well versed in the rules of evidence, Federal tax law and Internal Revenue Service regulations and procedures. In addition, he headed several task forces in the development of Appeals continuing education at the national level.

Mr. Phillips has been a regular speaker at the IRS Nationwide Tax Forums and at numerous seminars including those for the Orange County Bar Association, AICPA and local Enrolled Agent societies.


Justine Quinones, M.B.A., C.P.A. has a professional career that spans more than 30 years in private accounting, not-for-profit, and government accounting and taxation accounting. Justine retired from the County of Riverside in 2009 after serving as an internal auditor, a principal accountant and an administrative manager. She currently teaches governmental and not-for-profit accounting, budgeting and internal auditing.

Justine is a member of several political organizations within the Inland Empire and is the treasurer for the National Women's Political Caucus and for the Women's Leadership Foundation of the National Women's Political Caucus of California. She also serves on the boards of various local non-profit organizations, works with the Community Settlement Association and participates with the Group of Riverside to improve local government while interfacing with university and college students in class and after graduation.

Justine holds a both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in business administration from California State University, San Bernardino. She is a Certified Management Accountant, Certified Government Financial Manager and a Certified Public Accountant.
