BUSCS 346 (3 units) Learn how to optimize website content for the best possible search engine ranking. Examine the theory behind Google search and other popular search engine algorithms. Demonstrate skills that can be applied to a career as a Search Engine Optimization specialist, digital marketing professional or online content developer.



Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Evaluate how a search engine ranks an online property and assign measurable SEO value.
  • Synthesize on-site SEO and off-site SEO ranking factors into a basic SEO strategy for improving an online property’s search ranking.
  • Apply modern SEO tools to evaluation and measurement of online properties.

About the instructor: 


Joshua Mauldin, a University of Redlands double-alum (MBA and BS Information Systems), is a business-minded tech maven who cofounded Mind & Mill, a digital marketing agency, startup accelerator, cowork, art gallery, and event space. Mr. Mauldin previously lead hundreds as COO of a healthcare company, bootstrapped ecommerce companies, has lived on both coasts, is an avid tinkerer, and is a full-time nerd. With experience in a variety of verticals, from healthcare to Gateway Computers to political consultancy to automotive aftermarket manufacturing to home improvement to outdoor adventure gear, Mr. Mauldin has gained perspective in building and growing business on a variety of fronts. In his free time, Mr. Mauldin enjoys hanging out and doing nerdy projects with his son, writing about himself in the third person, poker with friends, martial arts, traveling, and the Lakers.
