San Francisco Theological Seminary and the Graduate Theological Union

108 Faculty Working and Teaching at the GTU

San Francisco Theological Seminary is a founding member of the Graduate Theological Union (GTU), which was created in 1962 in the Bay Area with the certainty that the future of religious renewal and theological education depends on the willingness of faith traditions to come together.

The GTU has the largest theological faculty in the United States, including renowned experts with extensive knowledge of the world's major religions and expertise in major areas of interdisciplinary theological investigation, such as the relationship between religion and the arts or the interplay between science and theology. Our students have the opportunity to attend classes at any of the other seminaries or multi-faith centers and affiliates in the GTU.
