Program Learning Outcomes

Theatre Arts graduates will:

1. Effectively use the theatre artist’s instrument—body, voice, and imagination;
   
   
2. Identify and evaluate research to support critical and creative work;
   
   
3. Interpret performance texts within historical, ethical, political, social, national, and aesthetic contexts;
   
   
4. Participate effectively in theatre’s collaborative process of finding the intersection of common artistic, technical, social, and intellectual goals;
   
   
5. Evaluate their critical and creative work through an informed sense of the past and with an awareness of current best practices in the field; and,
   
   
6. Integrate and synthesize theory and practice in performance, design, and/or dramaturgy.

Theatre Business graduates will:

1. Effectively use the theatre artist’s instrument-body, voice, and imagination;
   
   
2. Demonstrate a basic understanding of the principles of economics, business, and accounting through their application in sustainable business practices;
   
   
3. Demonstrate entrepreneurial and managerial skills necessary to succeed as creative individuals in the increasingly complex economic environment of contemporary art-making;
   
   
4. Participate effectively in theatre’s collaborative process of finding the intersection of common artistic, technical, social, and intellectual goals;
   
   
5. Evaluate their commercial, critical and creative work through an informed sense of the past and with an awareness of current best practices in the field;
   
   
6. Integrate and synthesize theory and practice in theatre management; and,
   
   
7. Create practical solutions to presenting theatrical projects.
