Art Within Reach is a fundraiser, in partnership with Uncorked on State, to benefit The Arthur Cooke Scholarship fund.

The Arthur Cooke Scholarship is awarded to a University of Redlands art major who will be pursuing a career in the arts after graduating from the University. The award money is intended to provide a level of financial security for the student as they pursue unpaid internship opportunities or an entry-level position within the visual arts or cultural sector. 100% of the proceeds from Art Within Reach will go to The Arthur Cooke Scholarship fund.

Arthur Cooke was a young man who possessed many artistic talents. He was an alum of Venice Arts, a local arts program in Venice, where he got his start in photography, and of NYU's 2018 BFA program. Arthur was a close friend of Suzanne Lunn-Doll and Jack Doll, co-owners of Uncorked on State. The art department has partnered with the Dolls to set up The Arthur Cooke Scholarship in his memory.

Art Within Reach will be offering original works on paper for sale to the general public between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 12.

Each artwork has been soooo generously donated by the artists themselves and by owners of artworks.

How Art Within Reach works:

If you reach for a work that you really like, then once you touch it, you have committed to buying it. It cannot be put back, nor can you try to give it to someone else.
There will be no identifying labels, just images, so you'll just have to know what you like.
Works will be hung informally with clips for easy reach.

Cash and credit cards will be accepted.
Artworks will be priced between $30 and $60 (which is great for budgeting!)

TO DONATE WORK:

  1. Choose 1-2 unframed works on paper (photos and digital prints OK), NO BIGGER than 11 x 17 inches
  2. On the back of each work, legibly write your name and artwork details, including title, date, medium(s), dimensions, and email address. (Labels are ok, but NO post-its please)
  3. Mail / deliver work(s) to The University of Redlands ART DEPARTMENT by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 -
    • Include a SASE for return of any unsold work. If no SASE is included, the Art Department and the University of Redlands will not be responsible for the return of work and the work will become part of the department’s holdings.
    • Include your name, address, phone number, and email address on a separate piece of paper within the same envelope.
