RISA (Redlands International Student Association) has been formed in the recognition of the international students coming to the University of Redland from different countries. We feel that, with students coming from so many different backgrounds and cultures, we need a safe and individual space for international students where we can share our ideas, thoughts and perspectives, and celebrate diverse cultures in a more independent and comfortable way. Being thousands of miles away from home can be stressful; hence we want all international students to have an open space where they can express their candid feelings and help each other.
QTPOC (Queer/Trans people of color) Affinity Group is a student-led collective dedicated to creating a space for people who identify as LGBT+ people of color. As our political and social climates continue to restrict us, on and off of this campus, we need to be intentional with every space that we are able to create for ourselves. This year, we held the first annual QTPOC Ball, a celebration of Ball culture which originated in the 1980s, and notably gained traction in New York. We collaborated with other clubs and students on campus to throw a Pronoun Party in CDI and worked with many diversity organizations on campus to support their events, as well as attending peaceful protests as a group on campus against homophobia. We are extremely grateful to our members or those whom support our organization. We are grateful to be receiving the “ASUR New Organization of the Year” Award! you again for this honor, and go Bulldogs!
