Fall 2021 Housing Selection and Placement Process

NOTE: If you will not be enrolled at the University of Redlands for the fall, no housing action is needed.

The Housing Selection and Placement Process for 2021-2022 has begun! You will participate in this process to secure housing for the following full academic year. All Applications and Forms are found on the MyRedlands Housing Portal.

Applications

Off-campus Petitions - due Wednesday, May 12th If you are interested in living off-campus, learn about the Off-campus Petition Process on our website and complete the petition by the deadline for consideration.

Quad Application - due Wednesday, May 12th To support students with securing a quad room, which are extremely limited, this application is used to identify students who want to be considered for placement in one of these spaces. The selection of students, taking into account preferred roommate(s) when possible, is completed in collaboration with Student Financial Services.

Singles and Waiting Lists - ongoing These applications become available after the Room Draw process has finished, as single rooms and changes to housing assignments are limited in number. Priority for single rooms is given to students with accommodations.

Room Draw

1) Visit the MyRedlands Housing Portal and update your Personal Profile for Fall 2021.

2) Search and match with roommate(s) and suitemate(s) under Housing and Roommate Selection by selecting Roommates/Suitemates. Approve matches with all students of which you plan to share a room and/or suite-style living arrangement. During the Room Draw process, you will identify a roommate or suitemate designation for each matched student, while also placing them in a particular bed arrangement.

3) Participate in Room Draw, the week of May 24th, during the best selection date/time for your matched housing group to select your room. You will receive your assigned date and time, based on completed course credits, with detailed information via your Redlands email account on Friday, May 21st. The apartments and halls included in Room Draw will be the Brockton and Grove Apartments and California, Cortner, Founders, Grossmont, Melrose, and Merriam Halls.

4) After the Room Draw process has finished, Residence Life and Housing will place students who did not participate in a housing assignment, as well as configure arrangements, when possible, for those on the Waiting List. Students on the Waiting List will be notified via their Redlands email account when they have been assigned a new space that meets their preference.

Additional Housing Information

Going abroad or taking a leave of absence in the fall? You must complete the Accommodation Request and/or Off-campus Petition processes to be considered for these housing options when you return. However, no other housing selection processes are needed from you at this time. You will be contacted during the fall semester via your Redlands email account with information about how to share your room and roommate(s)/suitemate(s) preferences for your spring return. Students planning to take a Leave of Absence for the Fall semester must follow the information linked here to notify the University.

Currently on a Leave of Absence? Students currently on an LOA, who have indicated they will return in the fall with the Registrar's Office, will participate in the Housing Selection and Placement Process as returning students based on their number of completed course credits.

Plan Ahead for Fall 2021: Sophomore students will move in on August 30th, while all other returning students will move in on August 31st. All check-ins will be completed by appointment only. Information about scheduling your arrival time will be provided in July.

May Term and Summer Closing 2022 Students not staying for May Term must check out by Sunday, April 24th. Also, each year the University closes some residential communities for May Term. For the coming May, those locations will be Anderson, East, Fairmont, Melrose, and Williams Halls, and the Grove Apartments. Students staying for May Term residing in these communities will be relocated to a different, comparable room assignment for the duration of May. They will be notified of their new assignments at the beginning of April and move on Sunday, May 1st. Students staying over May Term will need to check out of their community by Friday, May 27th.
